The Division has a long-standing commitment to both Resident and Fellow education and the new surgeon will be involved in this effort. The new physician will join a group of surgeons with a reputation of excellence in patient care and an established track-record of federal and industry funded research. The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida is recruiting a non-tenure track surgeon to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery with a primary (8/8th) appointment at the Malcolm Randall VA medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. This is a highly professional position requiring daily contact with students, faculty, the university community, and the public. Due to the multiple functions within the NHMFL, the incumbent is cognizant of all facets of the NHMFL, including (but not limited to) research, reporting, education, outreach and strategic planning. The incumbent reports directly to the NHMFL Associate Laboratory Director at UF. He/she acts as the coordinator of all student internships and mentoring activities for undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral at NHMFL-UF. The incumbent handles all coordination work related to NHFML-UF projects, programs, and events. He/she is well organized and utilizes effective communication to carry out plans. This incumbent coordinates proposals submission, records of submitted proposals, awarded projects, and budget changes for NHMFL-UF projects. He/she is responsible for all National Science Foundation (NSF) compliance functions, including project management, annual reporting of activities, development of operations plans and budgets, coordination of operations with the NHMFL facilities at Florida State University and Los Alamos National Laboratories, recommending and implementing operating policies and procedures in the Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy (AMRIS) and High Magnetic Field Over Temperature (High B/T) facilities in compliance with best practices for NSF user facilities, and organizing outreach through websites, NHMFL publications, workshops, conferences and open houses. The incumbent manages and oversees the operation, outreach, and planning of the NHMFL user facilities at UF (NHMFL-UF). This position supports the development and implementation of programs and activities for National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), an internationally recognized research facility.
